Condemned to repeat their mistakes?

Do you remember where you were when it happened - when Arizona let a 15 point lead (and trip to the 2005 Final Four) slip away in less than four minutes?

It was - perhaps - the most classic of classic NCAA tournament games.

Said Lute Olson: "Anytime you lose a game like that, it's always tough. The reason it's really tough is our seniors. That was the first senior group since '87 that hadn't played in one Final Four. That will be the one thing that stands out in my mind."

The Fighting Illini - Wildcat rivalry is truly becoming a legit one. Arizona is 3-0 in games played in Tucson, 0-3 in Champaign, Ill., and 3-3 at neutral sites.

Today's "neutral site" matchup in Phoenix is comparable to the one in 2005, when the two teams met in the Chicago region final - just two hours from the Illinois campus.

I don't think there is any question - the pedal will be to the floor for the whole forty minutes of this game. Arizona learned a valuable - and heart wrenching - lesson when they let up on a team that refused to quit.

Transition

Now that football season is over, I will focus on UA basketball.
